Launching Our Fiscal Reclamation Campaign: Introducing the MPAC Wizard

David Elisma announces a new tool to help francophone families redirect their school taxes to French Catholic schools.

Every year, millions of dollars in school taxes meant for French Catholic education are redirected — by default — to the English public system. This isn't bad faith; it's an administrative default, made possible by a little-known mechanism in the Assessment Act.

How it works

The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) assigns every residential property in Ontario a 'school support' designation: English public, French public, English Catholic, or French Catholic. Unless a homeowner explicitly requests a change, MPAC applies a default designation — and by default, it isn't our French Catholic system that benefits.

The result: francophone families, tenants, and citizens without children who want to support French Catholic education see their school taxes fund a different system, simply because no one showed them how to fix it.

Our solution: the MPAC Wizard

That's why our campaign is launching the MPAC Wizard: a simple, step-by-step tool that walks every taxpayer through updating their school support designation with MPAC. Whether you're a homeowner, a tenant, or a citizen without children, it takes just a few minutes to make sure your school taxes actually fund our students' success.
